You can't learn how to give birth, and every woman experiences it differently. You may be feeling very anxious about it, or perhaps you're actually looking forward to it. That's different for everyone. Attending an
information session or taking a
prenatal class can help you prepare. Of course, during your pregnancy we will provide you with
extensive information about labor and childbirth, as well as what you can expect.
We can provide maternity care and attend your birth if you are
between 37 and 42 weeks pregnant. Your wishes are at the center of our care. Whether you choose to give birth at home, in a hospital birth center, in water, or in an upright position—everything is possible.
If your pregnancy progresses normally, you can decide where you would like to give birth. We attend births both at home and in a hospital setting. The most important thing is that you and your partner feel comfortable and safe in the place where you give birth. The decision about where to give birth can still be made—or changed—during labor. Giving birth at home is safe. We have all the necessary equipment to respond to any unexpected situation.
If you choose a hospital birth without a medical indication (an outpatient hospital birth), we will go to the hospital during the active phase of labor, where the birth will take place. If everything goes well, you and your baby can usually return home a few hours after the birth.
Sometimes a medical indication may arise during pregnancy or labor, in which case we will advise you to give birth in the hospital rather than at home.
In this region, we mainly work with
Maxima Medisch Centrum in Veldhoven and
St. Anna ziekenhuis in Geldrop.
The midwives at VIVRE
regularly assist with water births. During a water birth, the warm water can help you relax more deeply, which may encourage your body to produce endorphins—its natural pain-relieving hormones.
